Busiest week in Baltimore

I couldn't have gotten through last week without the laughter, support, and friendship of my great work colleagues. You know who you are. It was the most fun I've had while working since my WashingtonInc days.

Tranquil Tuesday-Role Models

February is my birthday month and it is my month to pick our book for book club. Last June I was fortunate enough to meet THE one and only John Waters at a conference in Baltimore. He signed my copy of his book, Role Models, and I am finally getting around to reading it. To say it is filthy is an understatement. I have been mortified by what I've read but can't turn away from his honesty and found myself dying laughing on many occasions. I was so curious about his serial killer friendship that I spent an entire afternoon researching the Charles Manson murders. There is an openness to his style that I admire. He's extremely courageous about what he writes and as he says in the book regarding his interviews, he can't make this stuff up.  I will never get the image of rats living in Bobby Garcia's home out of my head. Thanks a lot John! When I was reading the book, my House Beautiful had just arrived. House Bizarre...John Waters should start a magazine called House Bizarre!!! It would be brilliant and need a XXX rated rating, but it would be fabulous from a standpoint of unique weirdness. I admit, I've only watched Hairspray the movie and was one of the lucky few who got to see Cry Baby on Broadway that immortalized the pregnant teenager who frequents The Avenue as well as the preppy Roland park squares. I'll stick to his tame stuff. I'm not sure I need to meet Devine. This book was a window into a creative soul who is an icon for outcasts. I liked it. A lot!
